Hahei and Cathedral Cove

Updated: Jun 11

Accessible only by foot, or boat, Cathedral Cove is one of the (many) must-see sights in NZ located on Coromandel peninsula. The Cathedral Cove Walk affords spectacular views of coastal scenery & also leads down to Gemstone & Stingray Bays as well as Cathedral Cove. Named after the rock archway which you can walk through at low-tide, it was used as the tunnel through which the Pevensie children re-entered Narnia in the film 'The Chronicles of Narnai: Prince Caspian'. Near the Cove is Hahei, a coastal playground, protected by the offshore islands, making this sheltered beach ideal for swimming, boating and fishing, and the perfect launching spot for a visit to the marine reserve.
