Day Pass to Waitangi Treaty Ground, Paihia
With a day pass, you can experience everything the Waitangi Treaty Grounds has to offer by day. Step back in time & discover the birthplace of New Zealand as a nation. Start at the Visitor Centre & watch the excellent introductory film. Take the many bush walks, journey through the expansive grounds, steeped in history & with spectacular views over the Bay of Islands, and tread in the footsteps of the people who changed history. Stand on the spot where New Zealand’s founding document, the Treaty of Waitangi (Te Tiriti o Waitangi) was signed on 6 February 1840 and find out how this document shaped the unique land now called Aotearoa. Witness a spellbinding cultural performance as you learn the meanings behind Maori protocol and culture. Let your guide paint a picture of the momentous events that shaped the nation and explore the state of the art Museum of Waitangi, opened in 2016.
